Shah Alam, Malaysia – Panasonic Corporation Heating & Ventilation A/C Company (HVAC Company) has scaled up its solar power generation systems at Panasonic Appliances Air-Conditioning Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (PAPAMY) in Malaysia under the corporate policy of establishing net zero factories.

PAPAMY operates a production factory for room air conditioners, commercial air-conditioning equipment and air-to-water heat pump systems (A2W) (Air-Conditioning Factory), and a production factory for air-conditioning compressors (Compressor Factory).

Following the 5.2 MW solar power generation system at the Air-Conditioning Factory in November 2024, PAPAMY has proceeded with additional installations at the Compressor Factory since June 2025.

The new system with approximately 4.0 MW capacity has started supplying power on Jan 26, 2026.

As a result, PAPAMY’s total on-site capacity has reached 9.2 MW, which is the largest in Panasonic Group.

The total annual electricity generation will reach 10,338 MWh, with an estimated annual CO2 reduction of 6,703 tons (*1). The solar power is expected to cover 18% of the total electricity consumption at the factory when the system is fully operated.

Panasonic Group is committed to its long-term environmental vision, “Panasonic GREEN IMPACT” and strives towards achieving virtually net zero CO2 emissions from its own operations by 2030.

HVAC Company has been promoting energy reduction and energy cost optimization in the manufacturing processes, and this expansion of the solar power system will accelerate HVAC Company’s net zero CO2 project.

*1: The CO2 conversion factor of the purchased electricity is defined in Panasonic Group based on the factors from “CO2 emissions from fuel combustion” issued by the International Energy Agency (IEA). The Air-Conditioning Factory references IEA Emissions factors 2021, and the Compressor Factory references IEA Emissions factors 2024.

Panasonic Group has set forth its long-term environmental vision, “Panasonic GREEN IMPACT,” with the aim of achieving both a better life and a sustainable global environment for all. Under PGI, Panasonic Group strives towards achieving virtually net zero CO2 emissions from its own operations by 2030, and will contribute an impact of more than 300 million tons (*2) of reduced and avoided CO2, which is equivalent to about 1 percent of the current global total of approximately 31.7 billion tons (*3) by 2050. The group also works on business activities to realize a circular economy in which resource efficiency contributes to decarbonization and reduces the consumption of limited natural resources.
