Winner of four stars at Edinburgh Fringe Festival

Tokyo, Japan - Panasonic Connect Co., Ltd. today announced the reception of a "Cool Japan Matching Award 2022" from Japan's Cabinet Office Intellectual Property Strategy Headquarters. The award was presented for "The Life of HOKUSAI", a stage show produced by Global Business Labo, Inc (GBL). The show utilized a Panasonic PT-RQ22K, 20,000 lumens 3-Chip DLP™ 4K Laser Projector to create a dynamic backdrop to the stage to be used throughout the show.

The show was chosen to receive the award based on the smooth and effective combined use of art and technology, using the latest in projection technology to beautifully express the story of one of Japan's most renowned painters, without the need for multiple sets and labor-intensive set changes. The bright image and accurate color reproduction of the PT-RQ22K enabled accurate reproductions of Hokusai's artworks to be displayed in unison with the actors telling the story of his life. Shin Sugimoto, the executive producer of the show said, "We are very thankful for the technical assistance from Panasonic Connect to achieve this performance, as the stage performance utilized data from Hokusai's original works, the accurate color reproduction and high resolution of the projectors was very important, as well as the understanding of live production needed to achieve the vision of the performing artists."

Panasonic projectors are increasingly being used in live performances and interactive artworks, as the image quality and digital workflow allows creators the flexibility to create multiple immersive worlds that can be constantly updated and switched to match the content of the artwork.
