Invigorating the Town of Nihonbashi with Visual Presentation - Mitsui Fudosan and Panasonic Begin Demonstration Experiment
Tokyo, Japan - To invigorate the Muromachi area of Nihonbashi, Tokyo, Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. (headquarters located in Chuo Ward, Tokyo, represented by Masanobu Komoda, hereafter referred to as "Mitsui Fudosan") and Panasonic Corporation (headquarters located in Kadoma City, Osaka, represented by Kazuhiro Tsuga) have begun a demonstration experiment using Panasonic's new technology, "Flag Mapping (*1)", which brings to life a compelling visual presentation by projection mapping images onto flags hung from the ceiling.
This demonstration experiment has been organized during Mitsui Fudosan's event, "NIHONBASHI - Hoshi Furu Mori (Starlit Forest) (*2)" held from December 8 to January 8. Panasonic's Flag Mapping was installed on the 1F of the Muromachi-higashi Mitsui Building (commercial facility: Coredo Muromachi 1), and by utilizing its unique ability to enable images to track the movement of the flag, the experiment has verified the ICT infrastructure's ability to enhance the media value of spaces and to attract people, and direct traffic to the destination.
About Flag Mapping
Flag Mapping is a solution that provides an all new visual experience by combining benefits of flags, which naturally attract attention as they flap in the wind, and the benefits of digital, which can communicate a lot of information such as video, audio, time, and temperature. Viewers will be fascinated by the image's ability to follow the movement of the flag, and it is hoped that as a result, the ability of flags (media) to draw attention and their recognition along with the effectiveness of advertisement will improve. In addition to flags naturally flapping in the wind, by adding the ability to create artificial wind, the solution can stage a visual presentation at specific, opportune times. Panasonic will use the know-how gained through this demonstration experiment to apply this solution to other commercial facilities, public transportation facilities, amusement facilities, etc.
Collaboration begins to "enhance the media value of spaces"
Mitsui Fudosan is promoting an urban smart city pilot project in the Nihonbashi area together with the public sector as well as local community, and has actively considered the adoption of ICT technology in town building. And by combining its imaging and lighting technology, Panasonic has brought to life unparalleled environments and customer experiences with various partners to improve the value and the attractiveness of areas.
To create new values for towns, Mitsui Fudosan and Panasonic have begun a demonstration experiment that transforms the entire environment, the entire town into media by utilizing cutting-edge visual presentation infrastructure, and with content that helps invigorate the town and by attracting advertising. Coupling Mitsui Fudosan's town building know-how and Panasonic's cutting-edge imaging solutions, the 2 companies will create a model case study for invigorating towns in the old, but new town of Nihonbashi.
