Development Background

Location-based entertainment design is growing ever-more sophisticated with guests expecting a degree of immersion that’s difficult to deliver with conventional projectors. As a technology partner co-creating with the world’s top experiential design firms, Panasonic Connect understands how this increasingly sophisticated location-based entertainment production is driving demand for products that simplify workflows. REQ12/REZ12 Series evolved from our benchmark 10,000-lm-class 1-Chip DLP™ platform with new features that smooth out installation hassles and push image quality to the limits. From 240 Hz4 projection to its stunning contrast performance, REQ12/REZ12 Series opens new production possibilities for museums, immersive experiences, and beyond.

Next-Generation Visual Performance That Takes Production to New Heights

As the first 1-Chip DLP™ projector to feature Quad Pixel Drive, our 2-axis pixel-shifting technology, REQ12 Series reproduces authentic 4K3 images that are deep, smooth, and detailed. It supports 240 Hz4 projection and works with our optional ET-SWR10 Real-Time Tracking Projection-Mapping System for projection onto fast-moving objects, enriching interactive applications and stage performances. Newly optimized lenses improve native contrast performance while evolved Dynamic Contrast with new scene-analysis circuitry better recognizes light and dark areas of the image, making the difference stand out dramatically and bringing each scene to life. Users can now unlink5 black-level adjustment from geometric adjustment to reduce black-level bumps in overlaps outside the image display area, and adjust black-border shape to screen curvature using up to 17 control points to ensure thoroughly seamless projection over multiple screens.

Effortless Workflow, Improved Expandability

As productions increase in complexity, REQ12/REZ12 Series further expands functionality, interfaces, and options for a smoother workflow. A new lens lineup6 with a minimum throw-ratio of 0.308:1 and a maximum throw-ratio of 3.38:1 now features powered peripheral focus adjustment, a function that was previously manual, enabling peripheral focus correction via remote control. Lens-shift adjustment range has increased, making it easier to adjust in different spaces. Intel® SDM-specified slot integrates optional proprietary or third-party7 function boards to adapt, scale, and expand projector connectivity, including a DIGITAL LINK terminal board, 12G-SDI terminal board, and Wireless Presentation System PressIT receiver board. Users can save their preferred test patterns8 to the projector and calibrate using the client’s content without source connection. Preactivated upgrade kits for Geo Pro9 expand software functionality and automate edge-blending and calibration via camera10, saving time and effort on site.

New Cabinet Design for Reliable Maintenance-Free Operation

REQ12/REZ12 Series is the first 1-Chip DLP™ projector to feature a hermetically sealed optical engine with all liquid-cooling, enabling 20,000 hours11 of maintenance-free projection. Stylish new cabinet design is both compact and light—the projectors weigh just 26.9 kg (59.3 lbs) (TBD)—for easy installation in tight spaces at any angle. To prevent interruptions during the show, Backup Input12 switches to a secondary signal without screen-blanking if the primary is disrupted, while a Multi Laser Drive Engine prevents brightness loss in the unlikely event of diode failure. These robust projectors are bound to impress with consistently beautiful images over years of reliable service.

Panasonic Connect, guided by its mission of “Change Work, Advance Society, Connect to Tomorrow,” is committed to contributing to the realization of a sustainable society and to ensure well-being for all.

PT-REQ12 Series and PT-REZ12 Series are scheduled for release in CY2023 Q2 and CY2023 Q3 respectively. For more information, please visit https://panasonic.net/cns/projector/

1 Measurement, measuring conditions, and method of notation all comply with ISO/IEC 21118: 2020 international standards. Value is average of all products when shipped. 2 With Quad Pixel Drive [ON]. 3 PT-REQ12L/REQ10L/REQ80L only with Quad Pixel Drive [ON]. 4 PT-REQ12L/REQ10L/REQ80L only. Supports input signals up to 1080p. Display frame rate corresponds to the input signal frame rate. 5 Black-level area setting must be performed before black-level adjustment. The ability to unlink black-level adjustment from geometric adjustment is supported only on flat screens when adjacent images are aligned vertically or horizontally. 6 Lens release date varies depending on the model. 7 Third-party Intel® SDM-specified function boards sold separately. Panasonic cannot guarantee operation of third-party devices with PT-REQ12/REZ12 Series. 8 Supports PNG (1/8/16/24/32/48/64-bit, non-transparent, alpha blending disabled) and BMP (1/8/24-bit) formats with maximum resolution of 3840 x 2400 dots (PT-REQ12L/REQ10L/REQ80L) or 1920 x 1200 dots (PT-REZ12L/REZ10L/REZ80L). 9 Visit PASS to register your projector and download free Geometry Manager Pro software for Windows® (upgrade kits included). 10 Compatible cameras comprise Nikon D5200/D5300/D5500/D5600/D7500. Use of Auto Screen Adjustment function with these cameras requires installation of Auto Screen Adjustment Plug-in (a free camera driver available from PASS). Use of Auto Screen Adjustment function with D7500 requires Geometry Manager Pro Ver. 6.1.10 or later and Auto Screen Adjustment Plug-in Ver. 5.1.10 or later. 11 Around this time, light output will have decreased by approximately 50 %. Panasonic recommends checkup at point of purchase after about 20,000 hours. Light-source lifetime may be reduced depending on environmental conditions. Replacement of parts other than the light source may be required in a shorter period. Estimated maintenance time varies depending on environment. 12 Primary Input (HDMI 1) and Backup Input (HDMI 2) terminal assignment is fixed. Input signals to primary and backup inputs must be identical.
