Company / Press Release
Osaka, Japan, September 19, 2024 – Panasonic Holdings Corporation Co., Ltd. (“Panasonic HD”) is creating an experience at the Panasonic Group Pavilion “The Land of NOMO” at the 2025 Japan International Expo (Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, “Expo 2025”) where children—leaders of the next generation—can be freed from preconceived ideas and assumptions to “unlock” their hidden power and potential through the use of “human understanding” research and “spatial production” technology. The pavilion building was completed*1 in August 2024, and the exhibition and interior construction work will proceed toward completion in February 2025, using AR*2 to verify the spatial presentation and interior image. At the same time, an animation that conveys the world view of the The Land of NOMO pavilion will be created and released online next spring.
*1 Excludes installation of the façade membrane. The façade membrane is scheduled to be installed in January 2025.
*2 Abbreviation for “Augmented Reality”
Panasonic HD will exhibit the Panasonic Group Pavilion The Land of NOMO at Expo 2025 under the concept of “Set your heart and mind free, and the world will open up.” The name The Land of NOMO is based on the idea that “how you perceive something changes considerably based on your mindset,” and that “minds and objects are like mirrors.” The Land of NOMO pavilion, whose tagline is “Unlock your nature,” consists of the Unlock Experience Area (922 m2 *3) and the supporting exhibition area, “Earth” (165 m2 *3).
*3 The total floor area of the entire Panasonic Group The Land of NOMO Pavilion is 1,731.64 m2. The site area is 3,508.08 m2.
The “Unlock” experience area will consist of four Zones. The main points of experience are:
The Panasonic Group, which has been conducting business while staying close to people’s lives, has accumulated technologies including those for analyzing behavior and facial expressions based on its research into “human understanding,” and has developed its own sensitivity model to depict each person's potential and a story that reflects their individuality and characteristics. A butterfly motif is used to represent this.
A “Mist Wall*4” (7 meters wide and 3.5 meters high) projects a giant image that can pass through the air, and a “Vortex Ring*5” with an image 1.3 meters in diameter falls from the ceiling right in front of the visitors’ eyes.
Panasonic Group’s “spatial production” technologies related to light, image, sound, and air, such as stereophonic sound, 360° images, and haptics*6, will be fully utilized to create an immersive space that stimulates the five senses.
*4 Image screen with ultra-fine mist of 6 μm (microns) particle size made with technology that suppresses diffusion and delivers airflow to distant locations
*5 Mist rings made with a technology that traps mist in a vortex airflow and sends it to a distant location
*6 Production using vibration and wind
Through the The Land of NOMO experience, Panasonic HD aims to provide children with an opportunity to sharpen their senses (body), unleash their sensitivity (mind), and “unlock” their ability to imagine. The hope is to nurture in children, who will shape the future, “the strength to believe in themselves and the courage to take the first step.”
Zone 1: Deep within the Mirror Pond
Wandering through The Land of NOMO
Children who wander into The Land of NOMO will have their senses (body) sharpened cross-modally by 23.4 channel stereoscopic sound, images, and haptic technology, and will come to perceive with their whole bodies the world of “wind, water, light, and life” that they are usually unaware of. It is here that the “Unlock” experience begins.
Zone 2: NOMO Forest
Exploring the Unknown World
Children who enter the “NOMO Forest” will find “crystals.” Here, a beautiful forest of life and energy spreads out, and children are guided by their sensitivity (mind) as they explore this unknown world. When the crystals are held up, the forest emits light, sound, and wind as if it were alive, responding to the children's senses.
Zone 3: The Valley of Ancient Trees
Releasing Butterflies from Crystals
Through the ancient trees, each individual's senses and future potential—based on a behavioral analysis of their data from Zone 2—are projected as a story. Butterflies are released from the crystals, leading the children beyond the Mist Waterfall.
Zone 4: Into the Wide Open Sky
Butterflies flap their wings and resonate as one
As the children bravely pass through the Mist Waterfall, a new world opens before them. The butterflies released by each child in Zone 3 will resonate with the surrounding butterflies as they ride the winds created by the children, becoming a ring of energy that rises into the sky.
“Set your heart and mind free, and the world will open up”
An animation is also being produced to enhance the experience at the The Land of NOMO pavilion, and to help those who cannot visit understand its world. The animation will be released next spring on various platforms, including The Land of NOMO portal website, which is now live.

To provide children with opportunities to unleash their unlimited potential outside of their experiences at the pavilion exhibition, the Panasonic Group also plans to facilitate co-creation activities with students geared toward the creation of the pavilion prior to the event, as well as an online next-generation platform that aims to maintain a long-lasting legacy that connects children even after the event closes. Panasonic HD plans to use Expo 2025 as an opportunity to accelerate its efforts to ensure that the future of the children who will lead the next generation will be rich and full of hope.
