Panasonic exhibited at the NAB Show 2011 (NAB2011) in Las Vegas, US, for four days from April 11, 2011. In addition to the debut of new camcorders for professional use, Panasonic also attracted attention with the launch of various peripheral devices and software products to make the content production environments even more streamlined. Aside from actual camcorders and devices, Panasonic effectively promoted its workflow solutions, which provides efficient content production environments for the broadcasting and video industries.
Launched last year, the AG-3DA1 camcorder was the world's first fully-integrated twin-lens 3D camcorder. Building on the convenience of this model, Panasonic introduced the new P2HD series AG-3DP1 fully-integrated twin-lens 3D camcorder offered even greater resolution and higher performance at NAB2011. This camcorder as well as other models attracted the attention of professionals in the booth's 3D Professional Solutions Corner. In particular Panasonic was able to appeal its professional solutions to the visitors of the show with its advantage in providing complete 3D production environments with its 3D switcher/mixers and compact LCD monitors equipped with 3D capture assist in addition to its 3D camcorders.
At the Panasonic booth, an area to showed actual 3D videos made by users employing Panasonic 3D cameras and can be seen as Panasonic's strengths in the 3D production industry.
In the P2HD corner of the Panasonic booth, wireless solutions enabling data input and editing for the P2 camcorder, AJ-HP3100G, from a tablet PC or smartphone were presented and visitors were able to learn about new ways to use the P2HD series. In addition to new P2 camcorder models, and a high-speed P2 drive with USB 3.0 compatibility, a next-generation codec, AVC-Ultra, was also debuted and is expected to help to promote the increasingly expansive P2HD series.
In regards to AVCHD, in addition to the release of two new handy-type camcorders, Panasonic launched a plug-in component to enable editing with Final Cut Pro, a non-linear video editing software, eliminating the need for AVCHD conversion thereby allowing high compression efficiency. Along with meeting industry needs with a compact camcorder with high resolution and advanced features, Panasonic has been able to offer solutions for a low-cost HD production environments.
In addition to broadcast equipment, the Panasonic booth displayed systems products such as projectors, TOUGHBOOK computers, and business-use PDPs. Visitors at NAB2011 were dazzled by the solution ideas of TOUGHBOOK as well as the touch-screen 103-inch PDPs, and the 4K2K (4,096 x 2,160 pixels) resolution 152-inch PDPs.
