On June 21, 2013, the presentation ceremony for the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) Awards was held in Tokyo, with Panasonic winning prizes in a total of three different categories for its LUMIX and SD card products.
The LUMIX DMC-GH3 was named the Best CSC Professional for its user-friendly nature, with interchangeable lenses designed for taking not only still pictures but professional-looking video as well. It was praised highly for its picture quality during high-sensitivity photography, and also for its superior AF performance.
The LUMIX DMC-FT5 (TS5) won the Best Rugged Compact Camera award for its appeal to users who want to take both still and motion pictures while on the move and active. The product was praised for its toughness, including being waterproof to a depth of 13 m, and for its Wi-Fi connectivity.
Panasonic's digital cameras have been recognized at the TIPA Awards before, with the LUMIX DMC-GX1 taking the prize for Best Advanced Compact System Camera last year.
Meanwhile, Panasonic SDHC memory cards (Gold, Silver, Blue) with capacities varying from 4 GB to 32 GB, were collectively recognized in the Imaging Storage Media category. Their optimum speeds satisfy various users of compact cameras, mirror-less cameras and high-grade digital SLR cameras. These three series also received photokina Star 2012 at photokina, one of the largest photo and imaging fair in the world last year. All models of the lineup are resistant to water, static electricity, and magnetism, and also feature PROOF 7 safety with a built-in fuse to prevent incidents such as heat buildup or ignition in the case of a power surge.
About Technical Image Press Association (TIPA)
TIPA is an organization consisting of the editors of 27 camera and imaging magazines from 13 different European countries. At the annual TIPA general meeting, representatives of each magazine plus members of the Camera Journal Press Club in Japan vote for the best photography and imaging products and technologies released over the preceding 12 months. The respective category winners are then presented with the TIPA Awards, which are among the most influential and respected awards for photography and imaging products anywhere in the world.
