Panasonic Vietnam Honored as a TOP Sustainable Enterprise, Highlighted for Its Efforts in Minimizing Carbon Emissions

Hanoi, Vietnam, Jun 29, 2023 – Panasonic Vietnam was presented in Top 50 Sustainable Enterprises in Vietnam by Nhip cau Dau tu magazine (TOP 50 CSA), reaffirming the tremendous efforts and contribution of the Japanese brand to Vietnam toward the vision of wellness and sustainable development. 

This year, Panasonic Vietnam is one of six outstanding enterprises that was honored in the award category of Minimizing Carbon Footprint in recognition of its pursuit of a low-carbon strategy and promotion of energy efficiency. This marks a significant change for CSA 2023, when the organizer divided its awards into 18 categories under the ESG (Environment – Social – Governance) standards in order to highlight enterprises’ contributions to the community.

On top of its vision towards sustainability, Panasonic has been developing exclusive technologies and initiatives to improve energy efficiency, develop eco-friendly products, and reduce CO2 emissions in manufacturing and all related activities. Various green factory initiatives enable it to cut down thousands of tons of CO2 thanks to electricity saving. Panasonic has also developed exclusive technology such as the Inverter, EcoNavi and more, which have help to reduce their customers’ electricity usage and improve energy efficiency. The brand’s washing machine has even been awarded Most Energy Efficient Product by the Ministry of Industry and Trade for three years consecutively (2020-2022). In addition to this, Panasonic’s B2B solutions help businesses strive towards sustainable development through means such as comprehensive indoor air quality management solutions in order to bring healthy and green living spaces to all construction endeavors while helping to conserve energy and resources. 

Moreover, the Japanese company has also made consistent contributions to environmental protection in Vietnam through various CSR activities. Planting trees is one activity that Panasonic has a tremendous passion for, having planted and donated a total of 610,000 trees across Vietnam over the past 10 years. Among these, the annual Eco-relay program, with the enthusiastic participation of the company’s employees, contributed more than 260,000 trees. More than 350,000 trees were also planted through the tree planting project “Live wellness and contribute green with Panasonic” thanks to the active participation of customers and business partners. 

In addition to afforestation, Panasonic puts great effort into inspiring communities, especially younger generations, to create a green, healthy, and sustainable Vietnam through activities such as environmental classes for local students to empower and sponsor youth environmental initiatives.

Globally, Panasonic Corporation announced its Panasonic GREEN IMPACT with the goal of reducing CO2 emissions by 2050 by more than 300 million tons and accelerating toward carbon neutrality, which is in-line with the Vietnamese government’s goal of achieving net zero CO2 by 2050.  

The Top 50 Sustainable Development Enterprises Awards 2023 were organized for the second time by Nhip Cau Dau Tu Magazine with the aim of promoting corporate awareness of sustainable development under the framework of ESG standards. This year, 20 FDI and 30 Vietnamese companies were recognized.

The evaluation and voting process is carried out by an appraisal council consisting of reputable and highly specialized experts and organizations such as HSBC Bank, the Research Institute for Circular Economy Development, Deloitte Vietnam, PwC Vietnam, and other business experts to ensure objectivity and scientific methodology in the assessments.
