Panasonic to Showcase World's First DSLM Capable of 4K Video Recording at CP+ 2014

The new camera will be released globally this spring as the Panasonic LUMIX GH4.

Osaka, Japan - Panasonic will unveil the world's first(*1) digital single lens mirrorless (DSLM) camera capable of 4K video recording as part of its exhibit of the latest technology and products related to digital cameras at CP+ 2014, an expo for camera and photo imaging to be held at Pacifico Yokohama from February 13 to 16, 2014.

Under the theme of "LUMIX - A New Stage of the DSLM," Panasonic will use demonstrations, presentations, displays of example photography and hands-on test shooting with actual models to showcase Hybrid Photography that realizes a fusion of the highest quality of still photography and video, and the world of Street Photography that pursues higher definition, richer texture and greater mobility.

<Hybrid Photography>

■ World's first(*1) DSLM camera capable of 4K video recording
Panasonic's specially developed image sensor and new Venus Engine image processor have enabled improvements to sensitivity, resolution, tone and color reproductivity, realizing outstanding photographic quality in pursuit of texture representation.

This camera is the first in the industry(*2) to feature DFD (Depth from Defocus), a unique spatial perception technology that instantaneously detects distance according to the level of lens blur (defocus property), to improve auto focus performance in both speed and precision. And as the world's first(*1) DSLM camera capable of 4K video recording, this camera realizes highly detailed and realistic imagery, only possible with 4K that offers four times the resolution of Full HD.

When combined with a professional interface unit with I/O terminals for SDI and XLR, it can support diverse requirements in the field of video production.

This camera will go on sale worldwide this spring as the "LUMIX GH4."

■ SDXC and SDHC cards complying with UHS Speed Class 3 which are suitable for 4K video recording
Panasonic's SDXC and SDHC cards (UHS-I compatible) support the new speed class standard "UHS Speed Class 3 (U3)" for guaranteeing a constant minimum write speed of 30 MB/s (240 Mbps) when recording video, and are capable of recording a diverse range of high definition video including 4K video.

Both cards will be released worldwide this spring under the "SDUC Series."

<Street Photography>

■ LUMIX GM, LUMIX GX7
High quality prints of photographs of actress Haruka Ayase shot with the Panasonic LUMIX GM, the world's smallest(*3) DSLM with high definition capabilities, and street photographs taken using the GX7 high performance DSLM camera with high resolution 2,760K-dot tilting LVF, will be on display.

Also on display as a concept exhibit will be the limited edition LUMIX GM "colette"(*4), created in collaboration with the Parisian select shop colette, famous amongst fashionistas and artists around the world.

■ 42.5 mm F1.2 "NOCTICRON" LEICA DG Lens
Inside the shooting studio set up in the Panasonic booth, visitors can test shoot using the "LEICA DGNOCTICRON 42.5 mm/ F1.2 ASPH./ POWER O.I.S." the latest replacement lens for the Micro Four Thirds System, the brightest interchangeable lens in the LUMIX G Series.
