Panasonic Holds An Official Opening Ceremony Of its Semiconductor Factory in Suzhou, China (33KB)

Osaka, Japan - Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd., best known for its Panasonic brand of consumer electronics and digital communications products, held today an official opening ceremony of a new factory of Panasonic Semiconductor (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. (PSCSZ), its semiconductor manufacturing subsidiary in Jiangsu, China with local government officials attending.

PSCSZ was established in December 2001 in response to the increasing demand for discrete semiconductor devices in China as a result of the rapid growth in the production of electronic devices including cellular phones, DVD players, and audio equipment. Since its inception, the company has successfully expanded its business operations. In July 2005, the construction of a new factory started in order to meet further increasing demand. Since the full-scale mass production became ready with on-line adjustment and advanced production system in place, the company decided to held an official opening ceremony.

PSCSZ plans to continually increase its production of discrete semiconductor devices aiming for a further expansion of business scale. The company is not only supplying products principally to China's domestic market, but also planning to grow into a global supply base for discrete semiconductor devices in the future.
