Panasonic Provides Light ID Technology to ASICS New Concept Store - The First Installation at a Permanent Retail Institution

Tokyo, Japan - Panasonic Corporation is providing technological support to ASICS Japan Corporation's new concept store, "ASICS Station Store Shinagawa," which will be established on the Keikyu Shinagawa station platform. This is the first installation of Light ID technology in a permanent retail institution. Panasonic is also providing a wide range of its cutting-edge technologies to help bring to life the new concept, "To share latest information about sports and to provide a leading-edge, futuristic experience."

Below are 3 key solutions Panasonic is providing:

  1. Light ID solution
Light ID is a visible light communication technology that uses LED light sources to emit digital signals, which can be read by a dedicated smartphone app to access information. When shoppers hold their smartphones installed with the dedicated app up to one of the 3 areas in the shop where Light ID is being emitted, they will be automatically directed to the EC site, "ASICS Online Store." They can then receive more detailed information about the products' features, how they may be styled, and buy the products right on the spot.
  2. Large digital signage
The exterior of the shop is equipped with 6 large 55-inch digital signage. When shoppers scan the QR code with their smartphones, they can receive detailed information about products and order products online.
  3. LED lighting "Bikoshoku (beautiful light color)"
As store lighting, Panasonic is providing lighting that uses Panasonic's proprietary light spectrum technology to showcase products in the most natural, beautiful light.
