Eclipse Live by Solar Power Achieves More than 200K Viewers from 142 Countries

The Annular Solar Eclipse

Panasonic Corporation, using its energy-solution technology, made a challenge to broadcast "ECLIPSE LIVE FROM FUJIYAMA by SOLAR POWER" to the world through live internet broadcasting. Due to thick clouds surrounding Mount Fuji area today, our attempt to make clear filming of the Solar Eclipse was not accomplished. We succeeded, however, to share the world a live footage of the Solar Eclipse from Shingu-shi, Wakayama where we had prepared a different team.

We broadcasted live feed of the Solar Eclipse, mixing the live filming of the Solar Eclipse from Wakayama and commentary from our base camp in Mount Fuji. All the electricity used by the equipment for the live filming was powered with electricity generated by the sun using Panasonic's HIT solar panels and then charged to Long-life lead rechargeable battery and portable battery.

More than 200,000 viewers from 142 countries enjoyed the scenes of our attack team climbing Mount Fuji and live broadcast of Solar Eclipse through our special web site and Ustream.

We will further release follow-up reports of this project through web site and Ustream.
