Aug 06, 2024, Osaka, Japan – Panasonic Holdings Corporation (Panasonic HD) revealed the designs for uniforms to be worn by staff tending the corporation’s “Land of NOMO” pavilion at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan from April to October 2025.
The design of the uniforms is based on the pavilion’s themes and is built with diversity, equity and inclusion in mind. In total, there are eight items making up the uniform, all made from environmentally friendly materials and inclusively designed.
The concept of the Land of NOMO pavilion is based on the idea that “how you perceive something changes considerably based on your mindset,” and that “minds and objects are like mirrors.” A goal of the pavilion is to provide Generation Alpha children with experiences that will raise their awareness of the oneness of the world and gift them with new realizations about the world they live in.
The pavilion uniforms are designed so that their colors, shapes and patterns appear different depending on the viewing angle and how they are worn, encouraging each individual to see the designs in their own way. They feature an airy, wind-swept and asymmetrical look with organic lines and colors evoking the Northern lights.
Additionally, the uniforms are designed with an emphasis on DEI. The pieces are genderless and are easy to put on and take off for persons with disabilities. They are also designed for comfort when wearing in the rain and have ventilation openings secured by zippers for hot days.
The Panasonic Group is developing its business to realize “an ideal society offering material and spiritual affluence.” In line with the Group’s long-term environmental vision, Panasonic GREEN IMPACT, which strives to achieve a sustainable global environment, the uniforms are made with environmentally friendly materials and are planned to be collected after use to be upcycled.
Panasonic Group will ensure that The Land of NOMO provides an unforgettable experience for children envisioning the future.
The uniforms were designed in cooperation with Chikuma & Co., LTD. under the direction of architect Yuko Nagayama, with additional cooperation from Dentsu Inc. and Congrès Inc.
