Enjoy One of Asia's Prestigious Golf Tournaments on Your Weekend

The Asia-Pacific Open Golf Championship Panasonic Open is an international men's professional golf tournament which began in 2008. Large numbers of top professional and amateur golfers from the Asia-Pacific region, including Japan, compete in the event, making it truly the top tournament for this region.

This year is the fifth Panasonic Open Tournament. It will be held over four days from September 20 to 23, 2012 at the Higashi Hirono Golf Club in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, with 132 golfers competing for the number one place in the Asia-Pacific region.

Panasonic, hoping to promote golf in the Asia-Pacific region and contribute in even a small way to the creation of stronger societies through the joy of sports, holds the Panasonic Open with the Asia-Pacific Golf Federation (APGC; a directing body acting as a federation of 34 countries and regions aiming at the promotion and spread of golf throughout the Asia-Pacific region) and the Japan Golf Association (JGA; a directing body for Japan aiming at the spread and development of golf) as co-sponsors. President Kazuhiro Tsuga of Panasonic Corporation will be the chairperson of the tournament.

The total prize money of the Panasonic Open is 150 million yen (30 million yen for the winner), and with the cooperation of both the Japanese Golf Tour and the Asian Tour, the prize money will be added to the prize rankings. In addition to the 30 million yen prize for the winner, an additional consolation prize package from Panasonic consisting of a VIERA TV and a set of ECO NAVI products will be given. For anyone who gets a hole-in-one on the 17th hole over the two days of the final round or the Hole-in-One Prize will receive a Panasonic HIT solar power generation and storage battery system,while the Albatross Prize winner or one who scores an albatross shot on the long holes (the 9th, 12th, and 18th holes) in the two days of the final round will receive a Panasonic ENE FARM residential fuel cell.
