Panasonic to Demonstrate Energy Solutions for Entire Towns at China-Japan Green Expo 2011

Panasonic group will demonstrate its advanced technologies and services to realize energy solutions for entire towns.

Osaka, Japan - Panasonic Corporation will showcase its technologies and services to realize energy solutions for entire towns at China-Japan Green Expo 2011 to be held from June 1 to 3, 2011 at China National Convention Center in Beijing. This is the first international exhibition jointly organized by Japan-China Green Expo Management, a non-profit organization established by Keidanren (Japan Federation of Economic Organizations) and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade. Approximately 30,000 people including government officials and business professionals from China and Japan are expected to participate in the exhibition.

Panasonic aims to become the No.1 Green Innovation Company in the Electronics Industry by 2018, the 100th anniversary of its foundation. This year's theme is Panasonic's energy solutions from entire homes to entire towns. Panasonic group will demonstrate its advanced technologies and services to realize energy solutions for entire towns. In addition to having expanded our energy solutions to buildings, stores and public facilities, the company has been connecting and applying them to entire towns focusing on energy creation, energy storage, energy saving and energy management.

<Main Exhibits>

1. Corporate Message Zone
In addition to the commitment to be a model company to make an environmental contribution to China, which was represented in May, 2009*1, the vision of energy solutions for entire towns will be introduced using videos of some examples for homes, stores, buildings and public facilities.

2. Environmental Initiatives in China Zone
This zone will highlight several environmental initiatives such as environmental education activities and tree planting as well as Panasonic's environmental technologies.

3. Energy Solutions Zone
1) Entire Home Corner
This corner will showcase a green lifestyle with virtually zero CO2 emissions which will be realized in three to five years by introducing Eco Ideas House at Panasonic Center Tokyo. In addition to energy-saving air conditioners, washing machines and refrigerators, Panasonic will propose the lifestyle with virtually zero CO2 emissions, combining energy creation and energy storage. The energy solutions focusing on Smart Energy Gateway (SEG), which controls energy by linking every device and equipment at home, will be also demonstrated.

2) Entire Store Corner
This corner will highlight Eco Store System that gives the best in-store environment for optimum power consumption by linking together equipment such as lightings, ventilations and showcases, previously operated individually.

3) Entire Building Corner
The Entire Building Corner features Emit Total Building System which enables to control lightings and ventilations for each area through linking lightings, ventilations and sensors to detect the presence of people inside the buildings.

4) Entire Public Area Corner
On display at the Entire Public Area Corner will be Area Management System to control 18,000 units of lighting at Olympic Park in Beijing using network technology.

5) Entire Town Corner
The energy solutions for entire towns include energy solutions for homes, buildings, stores and public facilities through connecting energy creation, energy storage and energy saving focusing on Smart Energy Gateway (SEG). This will contribute to the realization of green lifestyle with integrated management of energy and information by linking all equipment and facilities. The recent initiatives such as Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City in China and Fujisawa Sustainable Smart Town*2 in Japan will be introduced.

At the Forum, Panasonic committed to become a model company to make an environmental contribution to China in terms of product development, manufacturing, and human resource development by spreading its advanced environmental technologies, know-how and several initiatives.

*2: Panasonic Corporation and eight other companies that are spearheading advanced environmental initiatives through eco-conscious urban development and smart city projects announced on May 26, 2011 that they would work together to implement a smart town concept called "Fujisawa Sustainable Smart Town (Fujisawa SST)" which showcases Panasonic's "entire solutions" business model in full scale to the world.
