Panasonic and OPPO Signed Global Patent Cross-License Agreement

Panasonic Holdings Corporation (“Panasonic”) and Guangdong OPPO Mobile Telecommunications Corp., Ltd (“OPPO”) executed a global patent cross-license agreement covering cellular standard essential patents. The agreement, achieved through amicable discussions, also includes other intellectual property collaborations and resolves all pending patent disputes in all jurisdictions.

Andrew Y. Yen, Chief IP Counsel of Panasonic, stated, “We welcome the conclusion of this agreement, one of a pair that Panasonic simultaneously achieved with leading Chinese smartphone manufacturers. Panasonic cannot do this alone and appreciates the hard work and dedication by OPPO’s IP team. The agreement reaffirms the contributions by Panasonic engineers to standardized technologies. This achievement will continue to fuel Panasonic’s corporate commitment to develop products, services and the underlying technologies that enhance the lives of consumers and advance global society. Going forward, Panasonic and OPPO plan to work together on IP collaboration projects and to be more vocal about addressing IP issues with Asian sensitivities.”
