Panasonic Receives Four Universal Design Awards

Panasonic received four prestigious awards at the Universal Design Awards 2011 for products such as the Electric Steam Iron and Integrated Twin-lens 3D Camera Recorder, the largest number of UD awards received yet. This well-known international design award recognizes excellent universal design products and services, and were presented by the Universal Design GmbH based in Hannover, Germany.

In particular, the Electric Steam Iron and the LED Light Bulb, compact type (for diagonal installation) also received the "Consumer Favorite Award" chosen by 100 general users as outstanding UD products.

This fourth year of the Universal Design Awards attracted 114 entries from 14 different countries, with prizes awarded to 49 entries. The prize-winning products were displayed at the CeBIT 2011 International Trade Fair for Information and Communications Technologies, held in Hannover in March.

The Universal Design Award was established in 2008 by the Universal Design GmbH (Hannover) to stimulate and prompt further activities by companies and designers to award the design, structure and service of functional, beautiful and easy to use products.
