Vision Statement from the Regional Representatives for Europe

The barrier that the finalists from Europe have selected to overcome is "decreased viewers and engagement due to lack of sports knowledge." In a video message sent to the "SPORTS CHANGE MAKERS Preliminary Event in Mirror Field" held on March 9, 2021, they explained that they would like to make it so that spectators, who may not enjoy the sport due to a lack of knowledge about the rules, can easily understand the rules. We introduce the video and full text of the regional representatives for Europe below.

Hi, my name is Simon van der Fliert, a student from the Department of Computer Science. Hi, my name is Xela Dafauce Bouzo, I am a student in Sports and Health Science. Hi, my name is Bob, and I'm a student of Humanities. We are the European representatives for the Panasonic Sport Change Makers event from the University of Hull.

During our time in Hull, we participated in a variety of sports. We found that we engage more in these sports that we understood better. Therefore we found that a major barrier of entry for new participants is that they do not fully understand the sport. Therefore they enjoy the game less.

We want to mitigate this problem by creating an easy-to-use application for all users to quickly access and understand the rules of any particular Olympic sport, in an engaging and entertaining manner.

We've greatly enjoyed the development of our idea. This project has been an amazing experience, and we are very grateful for the opportunity that Panasonic has provided us. It has been a wonderful journey, and we hope to share more of that and more of our idea, including a prototype, with the world at the 2021 Paralympic Games in August. We hope to see you there!
