What is the World Solar Challenge?

Panasonic is supporting the Tokai University team's participation in the 2011 World Solar Challenge to be held from October 16-23, 2011. But what is the World Solar Challenge? It is one of the largest solar-powered car races in the world and Panasonic will be supporting Tokai University by equipping the Tokai Challenger 2 with Panasonic's HIT(R) solar cells which feature the world's highest energy conversation efficiency and also its high capacity lithium ion batteries. Equipped, the car challenge against 40+ teams to race across the outback of Australia from Darwin to Adelaide for over 3000 kilometers in this challenge. In the end who will win this quest for glory?
