Panasonic's DVCPRO HD to Be Used As Official Recording Format for London 2012 Olympic Games

Osaka, Japan - Panasonic Corporation, the Official Worldwide Olympic Partner in the Audio and Visual Equipment category for the London 2012 Olympic Games, today announced that Panasonic's DVCPRO HD will be the official recording format for capturing the London 2012 Olympic Games. Olympic Broadcasting Services London (OBSL), the Host Broadcaster will also use the P2 HD series with solid-state memory cards for video recording equipment including P2HD Camcorder AJ-HPX3100 and P2 Portable Recorder AG-HPD24 to support the broadcast of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The London 2012 Olympic Games will be the tenth Olympic Games where Panasonic's digital technologies will be used as the official recording format since the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games. The official international video will be produced and distributed from the International Broadcast Centre(IBC) in London Olympic Park, in 1080/50i High-Definition (HD) format, during the full 19 days of sporting competition for over 640 sessions, across more than 300 events in 26 sports on show during the London 2012 Olympic Games and expected to deliver the spectacular images of the world's biggest sporting event to the billions of TV viewers around the globe.

We also hope OBSL will test our latest professional format AVC-Intra 100 based on the latest H.264 technology that will realizes a better quality image recorded and broadcasted to the homes in the future."
