The company aims to lead green initiatives in the region with its Eco Ideas

Osaka, Japan - Panasonic Corporation and its regional headquarters for Asia Pacific, Panasonic Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd., today announced Eco Ideas Declaration for Asia Pacific in Singapore. The declaration is aimed at reducing environmental impact of their business operation and raise environmental awareness in the region by accelerating the environmental sustainability management.

Asia Pacific is an important production base for Panasonic which has 48 manufacturing sites in seven countries. The company strives to spread environmentally-conscious products and reduce CO2 emissions throughout the region and will take initiatives in environmental conservation activities that are tailored to local conditions as well.

On this World Environment Day, Panasonic also launched Eco Ideas Experience Road Show in Singapore. With an eye to increasing environmental awareness in Asia, the caravan-style hands-on environmental exhibition provides visitors with an opportunity to learn about ecological challenges while having fun using interactive plasma screens for eco-quizzes and other educational contents. After the three-day exhibition to June 7 in Singapore, the road show will travel to other Asian countries including India, Malaysia and Thailand.

Mr. Ikuo Miyamoto, Panasonic's Managing Executive Officer, Corporate Management Division for Asia and Oceania, said, "Environmental degradation is happening in many parts of the world, but the choice is ours to reverse the trend. Panasonic wants to play an effective role in changing mindsets and driving individuals to assume greater responsibility in their communities."

The Eco Ideas Declaration in Asia Pacific is focused on the following three Eco Ideas:
