For many of you, the highlight of this year may have been the London Olympics Opening Ceremony. But aside from the London 2012 Opening Ceremony, Panasonic's projectors were hard at work on May 14, 2012 at the Opening Ceremony of ACM- International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), a contest which can be noted as the "World Cup for collegiate software programmers."
- Top twelve teams selected from more than 8,000 teams competed at the ACM-ICPC, and images by Panasonic Projectors welcomed and entertained more than 3,000 guests.
- Warsaw Congress Hall in Poland
Needing to create beautiful images for the most demanding audience of about 3,000 programmers and guests including President of Poland Bronislaw Komorowksi, Panasonic projectors impressed all participants with beautiful pictures that lit up the 40m span of the multi-level Dome of Warsaw Congress Hall. Twelve units of Panasonic's new 20,000 lumens 3 Chip DLP® projectors PT-DZ21K were used to celebrate the opening of the contest, to light up one of Poland's most well-known heritage site.
From Thought to Action
Piotr Szabliñski, one of Poland's leading artists created a concept for the show, to turn the historic site of the Warsaw congress hall into futuristic happening combining 2D and 3D audio-visual experience. For this, he wanted to project to the dome of the hall, to virtually surround the audience with visuals and audios.
To realize this dome projection, rental and staging company Wizja planned to install twelve units of 20,000 lumens projector right smack in the middle of the audience. Since they planned to install twelve units of the powerful 20,000 lumens projector, key technical factor that needed to be overcome were:
- Low audible noise to not disturb the audience
- Low power consumption even with twelve units
- Ability to project to non-flat surfaces
- High reliability of a product that would not fail during the show
Why Panasonic Was Chosen
When Wizja saw the Panasonic PT-DZ21K Series at the Integrated Systems Exhibition 2012 (ISE 2012), a systems exhibition which was held in Amsterdam on January 2012, they thought that this was the projector they had been looking for; a product which combines all technical specs required for the presentation at the hall, relatively low audible noise of 43dB, 2,300W power consumption that would not disturb the audience and reduced total power consumption, a new Geometry Manager Pro software that would make easy installation even on complex surface, and continuous operation capability with multi lamps system for high reliable operations,. The decision was made to use PT-DZ21K at the ACM-ICPC opening ceremony after stages of planning and tests with engineering sample.

- PT-DZ21K double stacked installation to make brighter images.
"The PT-DZ21K was without alternative for this event" said Lukasz Nowak, Technical Manager at WIZJA, "as we needed a small and quiet projector that provides failure safe operation. The PT-DZ21K had all required spec and with the multi-lamp system provides best safety against a blackout."
At the opening ceremony, twelve units of PT-DZ21K (20,000lm 3-Chip DLP™ Projectors) and six units of PT-DZ110X (10,600lm 3-Chip DLP™ Projectors) lighted up the Warsaw Hall dome, surrounding the audience and the side screen of the main stage with both 2D and 3D contents. When the curtains opened beautiful images from Panasonic projectors complete with surround sound, real dancers and fluorescent body paints on stage and throughout the venue it did not only impress the close to 3,000 guests in the hall, it also pleased the organizers of the University of Warsaw who have chosen this complex concepts and which represented the history and presence of Poland as country in the most modern and future oriented way.
