Panasonic Develops Radio Wave Propagation Simulation System

- Accelerating development of next-generation wireless communication system -

Panasonic Mobile Communications Co., Ltd. (President: Yoshiaki Kushiki) announced that it has developed a radio wave propagation simulation system for next-generation wireless communication system (3G LTE / IMT-Systems Beyond 2000). This simulation system will be exhibited at its booth at the ITU TELECOM WORLD 2006 to be held in Hong Kong, China from December 4 to 8.

The simulation system enables the user to conduct analysis of radio wave propagation within a given environment for the next-generation wireless transmission method such as MIMO (Multi Input Multi Output), and Multi-Hopping propagation, thereby facilitating speedy and efficient development of the increasingly sophisticated communications system for base stations and handsets at 3G LTE and beyond, and contributing to the advancement of the next-generation mobile handset industry at large.

In conventional development process for wireless transmission method like MIMO, after collecting basic data and accumulating expertise needed to verify a new wireless transmission method at the level of simulation, the user had to conduct field tests to adjust each parameter, using working prototypes of devices and equipment.

Using this system, the user could conduct intuitive and visual analysis of transmission condition by three-dimensional image to verify the transmission method and implement the system evaluation, and as a result, facilitate speedy and efficient development of the next-generation wireless communication system used in site specific time-space propagation model.

Panasonic has applied or registered for 6 patents on the new radio wave propagation simulation system.
