Panasonic to Start BD-ROM Authoring
Service in Japan
Following the US
Osaka, Japan - Panasonic, the brand for which Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. is known, announced today the company will start Blu-ray Disc entertainment title (for Blu-ray Disc read-only media, or BD-ROM) authoring service for content providers in Japan on August 1.
The service will be provided at Panasonic DVD Authoring Center in Roppongi, Tokyo, using the same advanced Blu-ray Disc authoring equipment installed at Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory (PHL) in Universal City, California. The equipment includes a new specially developed MPEG-4 Advanced Video Codec (AVC) encoder and a Blu-ray Java authoring system. The combination of the encoder and authoring system allows reproduction of near-original, high-quality video with an easy-to-use graphical user interface (GUI) based on Java.
Prior to the Japan launch, PHL will commence the BD-ROM authoring
service for movie studios on July 1 in the Unites States as announced
