Panasonic in Numbers: CO₂ Reduction by Solar Lantern Donation

In 2013, Panasonic launched a global initiative to replace dangerous kerosene lamps with solar lanterns powered by renewable energy. The program was inspired by a single letter seeking Panasonic’s help in eliminating the hazards presented by the use of kerosene lamps in “off-grid” communities without access to electricity.
To date*, Panasonic has donated more than 120,000 solar lanterns to off-grid communities worldwide, eliminating an estimated 81,000 tons of CO2 emissions in the process.
